A SOUTHern Father’s Day Dinner & Jazz feat. Paula Johns & The Dave Hartl Quartet
Paula Johns is an accomplished jazz vocalist and cabaret singer from Philadelphia who was born into a musical family; her mother was an opera singer and her father a church organist and choir director.
Miss Johns is often compared to Ella Fitzgerald, and some of the great contemporaries of that era, but she brings her own distinctive panáche to each song. She enjoys a lyric that tugs at your heartstrings, as well as a lyric that’ll make you fall off your seat with laughter. Not only does she perform songs from “The Great American Songbooks”, but she has incorporated pop songs with a Jazz arrangement from the 60’s and 70’s from singers like Dionne Warwick, Roberta Flack, and Stevie Wonder. She is able to make these songs fresh and even more alive than when you first heard them.
