The Smooth Show is a Philadelphia-based band that blends jazz, funk, R&B, hip-hop, and soul to create a unique sound — and, more importantly, a fun time! Live audiences are captivated and engaged when they experience a performance by The Smooth Show. Their moments of improvisation highlight not only the talent the band possesses, but also the genuine joy that Stephen Mitnaul (alto saxophone), Clayton Carothers (drums), David Criswell (keyboard), and Lloyd Billups (bass guitar) have playing together. After connecting to each other through church, they’ve performed at multiple venues in Philadelphia and surrounding areas since the creation of The Smooth Show in 2015.

Taylor Samuels, a Philadelphia native, is a teaching artist on the rise. She has begun to make her mark as a solo and background vocalist, vocal arranger/producer, music director, and teacher in many creative spaces around the city. She has performed at the Academy of Music, Kimmel Center, various churches & events, and even the Governor's Mansion. Having the privilege to glean from and work with so many artists has helped Taylor to develop her own style. Whether she's performing for a sold out show, performing at a wedding reception with the Boogie Down Experience wedding band, working as an adjunct faculty member at Yale University, singing background vocals on Tiny Desk, or teaching a one-on-one lesson, it's always her aim to inspire people and to point them in the right direction: UP.
